There are many companies selling products these days, but not all of them manufacture that product themselves. Also, doing research and development, setting up a manufacturing plant etc. can be very costly. So many companies and businesses rely on white-label products. In this article, I will explain the meaning of white labelling, the benefits of white labelling and some examples. 

What is White Labelling 

White labelling is a term used when one company manufactures or produces a product/service/software and another company buys these products/services/ software to sell it as their own. This strategy is very helpful for businesses to save time and resources and in turn, invest these resources in branding and marketing. 

A white label product provider company is responsible for manufacturing products and the other company that buys these products can add their logo and branding to sell to its customers as their own.

Many generic products that have a similar base structure or foundation can be sold with the help of a white labelling manufacturer. Some examples include:

As the manufacturers make large quantities of products for various companies requesting unique products becomes quite challenging. 

2. Less Control: 

Companies using white-label products often find themselves losing control over the development process. Companies cannot control quality, materials and processes at times, which can be a drawback for some companies. 

3. Increased Competition: 

As the white label manufacturer is providing products to both the company and its competitors, the competition in the market increases. Now companies must work hard on branding and marketing to make their product stand out and charge more money for the same products.
